The Township Trustee is responsible for the care of cemeteries under IC 23-14. The cemeteries in Benton Township that meet this description include

• Brock Cemetery
• Frye Cemetery (also known as Taylor or McGowen Cemetery)
• Richardson/Brummetts Creek Cemetery (also known as Fleener Cemetery)
• Stepp Cemetery

Note that our cemeteries are considered inactive and no new burials are permitted. However, other options regarding cremains may be allowed. Contact our office for more details.

The Township is looking for groups interested in adopting a cemetery for a year as a service project. Responsibilities would include occasional trash pick up and possibly some headstone cleaning (after completing a workshop). Please contact the Trustee if you are interested!
